This remote park offers rugged solitude and a more primitive hiking experience than most North Shore destinations. The Benson Lake Loop combines waterfalls, cliffs, and serene lake views with minimal crowds.
Expect steep climbs, rocky footing, and occasional muddy stretches. The rewards are panoramic overlooks, dense spruce forest, and the soothing sounds of the Manitou River.
Limited facilities make preparation important. Bring plenty of water and gear appropriate for backcountry hiking.
